Phantom Flex

Hell yeah we did it - had the Phantom Flex highspeed cam down at the beach last week and guess what, we scored some insane footage- If you´ve seen the snowboard movie "art of flight", you know what kind of footage we´re talking about... It´s just sick that we have the oportunity to use that cam in windsurfing. So stoked, this is goin to be a step, that´s the shit.

MWO Munich Premiere

Hell yeah, Munich Surfer City - last wednesday we had the "Minds Wide Open" Premiere of Andre´s new movie. Guess what, we had a full house and super cool crowd. Due to some healthy problems, Andre couldn´t come. So together with Fonsi Sommer we managed the Premier - was quite fun and everybody was super happy with the movie. All cool.

Finally, after quite a while we got some good westerly winds at my homelake Ammersee - bit gusty but powered with 4,5 and the crew around, so good fun anyway!

Supremesurf Bigdays

Last Sunday we had the Supremesurf Bigdays in Ahrenshoop at the Baltic Sea. It was super gnarly, I was on 3,7 maxed out and I can tell you, summer feels different...
The comp didn´t went well for me, I lost in the second round and finished on a disapointing 13th place. Well things went a bit wrong, my heat wasn´t too bad, had some ok forwards, Taka and stuff but I just couldn´t stick my backys in the strong winds - for sure that was the reason I went out that early, stupid mistakes, I´m still pissed about myself! But guess what, sometimes you win, sometimes you loose, that´s part of the game...
The good thing is, I learnt a lot from that event and it gave me a huge motivation to fight back next year, can´t wait.
Thx a lot to BSP and Supremesurf for the fantastic Event & Organisation, for sure one of the best comps around - looking forward to next year.

Stehsegelrevue 48hrs competition of a real Windsurfer at lake garda is done and guess what - we took it!! Our Team Fanatic with Gollito, Craig, Fred and me battled through loads of different disciplines like SUP Race, Freestyle sesh, lake crossing, longest golf drive, party performance etc. etc. Boy I tell you, through this Event you really loose energy as you need perform well all the time to impress the judges - pure fun! Mission complete, we took the titel home so now we can sleep well and feel as real windsurfers till next year when it´s on again... 8-)

Had a nice photoshoot yesterday for the german ADAC travelmag issue which has a pretty big impression - stoked about that!

Mission was to get some Windsurf shots done at an Allgäu lake so we decided to pick the Hopfensee as the forecast promised some ok westwind. Luckily this time they were right, some Wind kicked in and we went for an 2 hrs. photosesh in the water. After that, photographer and crew were hapyy so mission completed... 8-)

The whole story will be published around Dezember in the ADAC Travelmag, super excited about that.

Back in muc - well usually we wanted to stay one more week in Medano but the forecast didn´t look to promising and they were thinking about getting the bigdays started so we made it a quick cut, jumped on the next plane and went back home. We had to save the 100% trip, you know...
Anyway, time was great, loads of good sessions and now really tired - came back Sunday, Monday quick choppy freestyle sesh on the homelake and now charging the batteries for a few days...

Well made it to el Cabezo in Tenerife, going to stay here for the next 2,5 weeks and hopefully will get some good wavesessions in. Today the Pasatwind is already blowing full power and some quite big waves are rolling through the bay, good fun. Going for a xecond sesh soon.

Had a super nice shorttrip to Wijk, Holland - scored 1 funday, 4.2 all day long and some good waves and one 5.0 freestyle sesh on the way back close to Amsterdam which wasn`t too bad at all.

Now back in muc, maybe will get some quick freestyle sesh tomorrow at my homelake and then end of the week it´s time for the B&M Distributor Meeting at Reschensee.

Well sometimes you win, sometimes you loose - this time I lost! Forecast looked not too bad so I went back on the road to Denmark to get some wavesailing in. Right when I was there, the windforecast went completely down. Instead of some waves & wind summer showed up in northern dk and I was lucky to get some freestyle sessions on the big gear in... well guess that was a shitty timing but hey, car racing is also cool...
Following days look good at home and then it´s time for another trip, maybe with wind?? 8-)

I´m wondering whats wrong with the wind over here this year. Usually May is one of the better months with some days for the small stuff but somehow, this year it just doesn´t happen. Since I´m back from Maui, I was using most of the time my Slalom gear... But hey, I´m not a Slalom guy, I wanna pull some tricks.
Well but won´t complain too much, had 3 Slalom sessions this week, good to stay in shape and time to dig out some carving 3`s and stuff..
Just few more days home, then back on the road.

Since few days I´m back home. The 35 hrs trip back was pretty relaxed and I´m still wondering that I had no jetlag at all. Pretty cool through. Last days on Maui have been pretty good, still windy almost every day and some good waves. Most of the time I was concentrating on testing the whole new North wave/freestyle range for the 12 season. Have to say there are some incredible good sails on the way, stay tuned!

Well, next weeks I will go for my homespots, whenever it´s windy I will be out. Freestyle here we come again...

German Freestyle Battle 3.0 Fehmarn

On my way back from Klitmöller to Munich I made a quick stop on the island of Fehmarn to compete at the German Freestyle Battle 3.0.
We got some sweet freestyle conditions, super flat water and wind for 4,5 and 5,0s.
I got second in the Event, just lost to Adrian Beholz who was sailing pretty good. I´m ok with that result as I wasn´t freestyling that much in the last few months cause I´m trying to focus a bit more on the waves to become a more complete rider. Anyway, had some good tricks during the comp including double spocks, shakaflaka, voquetch, doublepuneta etc.
Had definitely good fun and I´m already looking forward to the next battle...

Just came back from a sick week of full power wind and waves in Denmark. Conditions improved day by day, at the end we almost had some mast high sets rolling towards the beach of Hanstholm. Never had such great conditions over there, and not just one day, almost the whole week conditions were on fire, awesome!!
Think it shouldn´t last too long till I drive all the way up there again...

Back home in muc now after 10 days of intense sailing at GC. Was great fun and sometimes pretty windy. Right after I came back my homespot Ammersee started to work again after a long time of no wind. We got 3 days of nice freestyle conditions for 5,4 and 4,5, was good fun. Now it´s time to recover a bit but the next sessions will come soon I guess... hope so!

Just came back from a quick filming trip to Fuerte. Now time to recharge a bit, in 2 weeks I´m off to Pozo for some wave training and travel story, can´t wait...

Few days ago I went together with the purity crew and Florian Selder to lake garda to get the final footage for the upcoming movie purity in. Was a nice trip, we got pretty strong Ora for 5.0, so super nice for some freestyle. After the session the crew was happy, so all good... Upcoming weeks will be tough for the crew as they go into postproduction. Can´t wait to see the finished movie - premiere will be at filmfestival St. Anton / Austria on 27. August - check it out . Had some good fun sessions around my homelakes the last days. Started off with some 5.4 freestyle at Walchensee, the next day I went for some Slalom Racing at the same lake. Have to say my 7.0 RAM F10 is the perfect low wind weapon!! Today we scored some more freestyle, was just a quick sesh but good fun on a new spotted location at kochel lake. Stoked that we found something new over here... Going to call that snake valley, don´t ask why... 8-)

Just 3 weeks after I came back from my wintertrip to sa I started getting really horny again to get some waverides in... I saw the forecast for the canarys and couln´t hold back, I booked a flight asap and the next day I found my self ripping some cabezo waves... so sweet. Had a perfect week, 100% wind for 3.7 all the way up to 5.0, so scored it pretty good... Now back home waiting for some wind to kick in...

Since few days I´m back in Cape Town, as always super cool here. After so many years coming over here it feels almost like a second home to me...
First days haven´t been special so far, there are almost zero waves around, but the wind was ok, so I went for some freestyle. Forecast doesn´t look too promising as well, but you never know. Maybe not too bad to get some time to rest, unfortunately yesterday I bent my ankle again a bit doing an airflaka. Shit happens, well it´s not too bad yet but bit scared to go full power on the water...
We´ll see, let you know what happens over here.

Had an crazy fun trip to Klitmöller, Denmark this week. Went there just for 1 day to join the ION essentials shoot for the 011 winter collection. The new stuff rocks. Had a pretty good time up there and Klitte for sure was the perfect location to get all the shots done. Fantastic job by Henning Nockel for taking great shots and keeping us motivated during the shoot in fricken cold weather. Thx a lot to Henning and Volker Hansen for taking great care of us. Just came back from a 10 days fun trip to Almanarre, South France. OK, wasn´t fun all the time as temperatures & wind made it sometimes quite a tough mission but at least we got some good sailing in so it was worth it. Every day seems to be different over there, used everything from 5,4 Duke all the way down to 4.2 ICE. Doesn´t get boring for sure...

Now time to relax a bit and work on the fitness. Beginning of next week on the road again. Then I´m off to Klitmöller / Denmark for some ION shooting.

Went with some friends to italys adriatic coastline to score some waves - just one day, 12 hours drive - but we scored it good, big fun conditions, 5.0 and later 4.2 sails, nice ramps and ok temperatures, was it all worth!!

Wow, time goes by so fast, Oktober is already over and winter comes quickly closer and closer. Time to get used to that Drysuit stuff... Had some good home sessions last couple days, enjoyed sailing a lot.

I´m back from a short roadtrip to croatia. Had some pretty good days there with a great mix of all kind of conditios, of course loads of freestyle, a bit slalom with the stunning RAM F10 and some fun waves on top - couldn´t ask for more right?

WC Sylt is done

2009 Worldcup Sylt is done and I´m back in Munich. Once again it was a great Event, perfect organisation and sweet to be back on a PWA Event again. On the water it wasn´t too good for me, I was sailing really inconsistent and lost my heats to Normen and Yegor. Against Tonky I broke my mast right before the heat, so I could watch the heat straight from the water swimming around... Well, guess that´s sport, sometimes you do good, sometimes not... Next time will be good again! Anyway, was cool to be back in the Worldcup and had loads of fun and great experiences... all good.

Denmark

Back from a nice week in Denmark. Was just so good up there, every day wind and "cold hawaii" also delivered some quality waves. Had everything from sideoff to sideon and some freestye as well - you can´t ask for more...

Now time to recharge batterys, will take a bit of a brake as my shoulder feels somehow a bit injured. We´ll see. In about 2 weeks is time to leave again, WC Sylt is on the list...

Lake Achen (Achensee)

Scored a sweet session yesterday at Achensee in Tirol. Haven´t been there for a while as it´s a bit tricky with the wind - very hard to predict and you won´t drive all the way from munich for beeing 5 mins to late, seeing the locals come from the water with a biiiig smile, telling you it was awesome but now it´s gone... 8-) Anyway, this time I made it and really had fun. Went with my brandnew Duke 5,4 and Skate 90 and I tell ya, that stuff is so much fun. The sail is so easy to handle, just couldn´t get enough of it. The blackberry is such an eyecatcher, it shines like a spot light on the water... Try that one, you will love it.

We also did some filming for an upcoming documentary film, which will combine athletes from different sports, showing their passion for what they are doing....
More about that project to come.... Stay tuned!

Tenerife

This year´s Tenerife trip was awesome like always, almost every day 4.2 to 5.0 well powered and nice waves to play with - cabezo is one of my favourite places to sail. That´s the reason I´m almost done after 3 or 4 days. The first days I always sail so much cause it´s just fun fun fun...
Had some sessions with the new Fanatic Skate 90 as well, guys I tell you, that board has it all you want! Just works brilliant in every way you want to go... When you have the chance, go and try it!!

Now back home, tomorrow looks windy, time to check out my brand new North Duke 2010!! Can´t wait, let you know!!

3rd in Sylt

Back home from another week in Sylt. We had the German Tour Final over there and after a few days hanging out at the beach finally on Saturday conditions arrived. It was typical Sylt like, onshore, damn choppy, just so hard to sail! We had 4.7m weather and waves up to 2 Meters. So some kind of real wave/freestyle conditions. On the way to the Final I managed to beat some German Top Wavesailors like Flo Jung, Lars Gobisch and as well in the first Round Philip Köster. I still can´t beliefe that one... Well, the heats where super hard, before the Final got started I was completely destroyed. In the Final I met Philip Köster, Klaas Voget and Leon Jamaer. I couldn´t go 100 % as I was so tired from the heats before but still managed to stick some moves, unfortunately had to do some swimming as well... Anyway,must have been a close call but could beat Leon and came into third which is really really amazing. So happy about that one! Big Congrats to Philip for 1. and Klaas for 2.! Well done everyone!

Wanna say manny thanks to the organizing agency Choppy Water and the Race Crew. They made an incredible job! Go on like that, want to enjoy more Events like that in the future!!

Here we go again, since today morning I´m back home. We had 2 prety cool weeks on Fuerteventura, the canary island provided us with it´s unusual many different faces. I guess we had al of it, from full full power atomic freestyle in sotavento to pumping 5.0 shitty conditions, awesome glassy down the line peaks up north as well as some good jumping. Yeah, I know that sounds sick, but at least we also had 5 days in a row without anything which is called wind. Isn´t that usual in July, is it? Ok, but we made the best out of it, some touri programm, paintball fun and so on... Also went a few steps up in my trickbox, landed air funnels & burners... Sick bro!
Now I´m a bit home, hoping to get some rides in.

Since one week I´m down here in Fuerteventura south doing some Freestyle training. Sadly since that time the waves never showed up but the Freestyle conditions are quite fun. 4.5 full powered up all day long and flat water are pretty good to work on that new power moves stuff...

German Cup Norderney

Made it up North for the second time within one week. Forecast wasn´t too bad, so there was some chance and hope to get some wave/freestyle done. Sadly during the Event the Wind never became strong enough for a fair competition, so once again the Slalom and Racing guys had long days at the office.
Anyway, it was once more pretty fun over there, good partys and a little bit of freesailing. Right after the comp the wind picked up and I had some fun days with 5.4 and 4.5 sails freestylin... that´s the way it goes sometimes.

Fehmarn Surf Festival

Luckily, this year I managed to visit the Surf Festival Fehmarn again. It was heaps of fun, cool partys and of course time on the water.

I got 4th in the super session judged by Kauli. Andre was first, Normen second, Sasa from Jeri came third and Chicko also from Jeri came into fifth. Well, I wasn´t too happy about the Result but come on, it´s just a super session. It was big fun doing some tricks in front of an impressive huge crowd and for sure some good promotion for the sport in generall.

Met some really funny people and had a good time over there. Now I´m back in Munich just for a quick stop. The forecasts predict some wind for the white sands festival at Norderney, so I will have a go for it...

In few minutes I´m going to hit the road again. This time I wll drive up to sweet Fehmarn in north of Germany. There the "Surf Festival" will take place with many big companies, nice partys and good riders. Is going to be good fun. Right now also the forecast looks promising, hopefully it stays like that. We will do some super sessions and stuff... cone on, visit the Festival and check it out.

Kochelsee Lake

After long long time today morning I scored a fun session at one of my homelakes. The Kochelsee just works when the "föhn" blows in bavaria and even then it´s not sure that you get a session in. Anyway, today it was again time for a ride. 5.0 well powered in the gusts and still fucking cold water. I went for it without shoes and couldn´t feel my toes after only 5 minutes. Going for switch tricks without feeling in the feet is quiet funny I tell ya, the hardest thing is to find the straps, once you make it in you got it... 8-))

Back from a nice 10 days Roadtrip through Sardinia. Plan was to score some wavesessions along with some freestyle on the lighter days. Unfortunately most of the time we had the lighter days... So my twinser babe made it just once out of the bag but anyway we got some fun freestylesessions with 5.0 ice and 5.4 duke in the pocket, can´t complain...

I have so much coverage in that one, I still can´t believe it - first of all there is that amazing Story about one of my homelakes, then the tips & tricks special and a shot on the preview page about the upcoming Athens story. That must be the biggest coverage of my career so far, so happy I tell ya.

Ammersee session

Right after the garda shorttrip my homespot welcomed us with full power conditions. I was still pretty tired from the sweet sessions in Italy but ok, down here you have to take what you get... so went for it, 4.5m sail fully powered up and still freezing, was more like fighting than freestyling but at least good fun. Had some nice planning forwards and other stuff. The sofa movielab filmcrew was there to get some footage for their upcoming DVD. So all in all was pretty cool. Tomorrow looks windy again, will go 4 it. Watch this space for news.

The winter is still strong over here and fights hard for the pole position as spring is not on full speed yet... Together with the sofa movielab crew and other friends we went on the road again for an shorttrip to lake garda. Was all good, nice 5.0 Freestyle weather and way warmer than home. Good fun!!

After my arrival back home in Munich there was quite a lot to do - no time to unpack my bags, instead I went with my friend an photographer Basti Schöffel straight to the HQ of German Surf Magazine. We checked some photos for an upcoming story and talked about new projects. Always cool to be there, many nice people around. The day after I went to the f.re.e. fair for my Sponsors Fanatic & North. Was pretty good as well, we did some Interview, signing and smalltalk. Is always nice to be close to the market. Now it´s going to be a bit relaxter... Hopefully we are on for a sick spring with loads of wind and good weather over here. Anyway, I´m already missing the rides on my twinser babes. Looks like the next wave trip isn´t too far away... 8-))

CT Part II

Not too many days off so long - pheeeww the last 2 weeks the southeaster really worked great, so I had some good sessions around. Most days I was on my favourite toys, 4.5 ICE & 78 NewWaveTwin. Dude, what a combo, I´m just loving it. With the twinnys is just so nice to rip some waves, feels much more easy and forgiving. I´m wondering why it took so long for their comeback... Just sick beeing out there and enjoying every session. Well have some Tricknews as well, few days ago I managed to pull of my first Takas. Funny trick! Ok, next one on the wishlist will be the tweak pushy. Daaaamn, that one I´m bit scared of but no chance, it´s the coolest trick to date so I have to go for it. Well I will try... Check back for some news on tricks or - wipeouts.... 8-)

Cape Town

Since few days I´m now back in Cape Town. Feels fantastic to be back again. After so many years coming here for a several time during european winter it has become something like a second home to me. Conditons where pretty much a mix of everything so far. We had some good sized waves as well as some freestyle fun on the lake. That´s great down here. Conditions are so different every day, it doesn´t get boring. After an windbreak yesterday it seems that the next cape doctor period is ready to blow again. There is some swell coming in as well, so looks like we will get some nice sailing in... Can´t wait!

Time by time you have to make some changes on your webdesign otherwise it gets boring in my opinion. Well, after a while my website comes with some shiny new look. Would be cool if you take the time and check it out - hope it´s anybodys taste. Don´t hesitate in giving me some feedback. would be cool.

Yesterday we got some wind finally, after 3 weeks of nothing at all... well it wasn´t much fun to be honest but after that time you take everything... The front came very late, about 1 hour before darkness but then fuuulll power. I guess it was around 25-30 knots, I was with my 4.7m absolutely over the limit. Fuck I tell you it was so gnarly, even when it get dark unbelievable. Around 2 degrees, icewater, not much light left and full power wind - it was pure war... But ok, as I go to Cape Town on Tuesday maybe not the worst cause there is sometimes war on the water as well... 8-)

Now off for some running.
